Wakayama University was founded in 1949 (under the post-war new university system) with the merger of three schools: Wakayama Normal School, Wakayama Normal School of Youth Education and Wakayama Technical College of Economics which traces its roots to the Wakayama Higher Commercial School.
In 2012, “Working Group for Collection and Organization of Materials” was established and started to collect the historical materials of Wakayama University.
To take over these activities, in October 2018, Wakayama University Archives was newly established. The archives aim to ensure university's smooth operation and contribute to education, research and social cooperation by collecting and organizing historical materials of our university.
